We, the global football community—including fans, players, local hosts, and stakeholders—hereby submit this petition of No Confidence in FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup was promised to be a historic celebration of the beautiful game. Instead, under the administration of Gianni Infantino, it has devolved into an unprecedented logistical disaster, an unmitigated cash grab, and a structural failure that has alienated fans and burdened host cities. The tournament has laid bare the consequences of a corporate autocracy that prioritizes political maneuvering and reckless financial exploitation over the integrity of football.

Grounds for Resignation

1. Exploitative Ticket Pricing and Fan Exclusion

Under Infantino’s direction, FIFA has turned its back on ordinary fans. The implementation of predatory "dynamic pricing" models and exorbitant resale platform fees has driven ticket prices to record-shattering highs. Coupled with astronomical local costs for accommodation and parking, the tournament has become an exclusive playground for corporations and the ultra-wealthy, pricing out the very fans who give football its soul.  

2. Logistical Chaos and Failed Continental Coordination

The expansion to a bloated 48-team format was pushed through to secure political loyalty from member nations, without a viable plan to manage the vast geography of North America.

Travel and Emissions: Teams and fans face grueling, chaotic, and disorganized travel itineraries spanning thousands of miles across three massive nations, completely contradicting FIFA's hollow commitments to climate sustainability.  

Local Strains: Host cities and local organizing committees have been left to absorb massive financial deficits, staggering transit costs, and intense logistical gridlocks without adequate support from the central FIFA apparatus.

3. Prioritizing Advertising Revenue Over Player Safety

The decision to introduce mandatory "hydration breaks" in each half—superficially framed as a response to extreme summer heatwaves—has been heavily criticized as a thinly veiled excuse to insert mid-game commercial ad spots for broadcasters. Infantino has actively jeopardized player welfare, choosing to monetize extreme weather risks rather than implementing serious, player-backed climate and safety protocols.  

4. Complete Erosion of Accountability and Ethics

Over his tenure, Infantino has systematically dismantled independent internal oversight, replacing ethics committees with loyalists to insulate himself from criticism. By cozying up to political administrations and using FIFA as a private diplomatic tool, he has shattered the organization's claim of political neutrality. He has built a system where opposition is mathematically impossible, running unopposed by holding the financial survival of smaller federations hostage via World Cup payout distributions.  

The Demand

Gianni Infantino has proven that he does not lead for the good of the sport, but for the expansion of an untouchable corporate empire. The administrative, logistical, and ethical failures of the 2026 World Cup are the final proof that his vision is toxic to the future of football.

We demand:

The immediate resignation of Gianni Infantino as FIFA President.

The installation of an independent, transparent interim committee to restore democratic governance to FIFA.

A thorough, independent audit of the financial and structural decisions behind the 2026 World Cup layout, pricing, and vendor contracts.

Football belongs to the world, not to a centralized autocracy. It is time to return the game to its rightful owners: the players and the fans.
