Crossing the intersection of DeSoto Blvd and Ponce (by Remax) is a nerve-wracking experience for me and countless others. As a local resident who frequently walks/runs/bikes in this area, I am aware of the safety risks posed by the lack of a designated pedestrian crossing. 

I went to The Public Services Committee meeting on Thursday, August 14th to share my concerns, but I feel that it is important for more than one voice to be heard.  We are a community of many voices and with this petition, all can be heard.  

The POA has created these beautiful trails, but the only way they connect is to cross over DeSoto Blvd.  This is where the problem occurs.  You cannot get to the other trail without this unsafe crossing.   Let's address the pedestrians before someone gets hurt.

Adding a crosswalk at this intersection would be a straightforward solution to enhance safety. It would alert drivers to the presence of pedestrians and provide a clear and safe passageway for people walking across the street. Our community deserves this basic infrastructure to ensure that everyone can walk safely.

I urge the POA to take action to install a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of DeSoto Blvd. and Ponce. The safety of our community depends on it.
