On Aril 10, 2024, Mr. George was granted medical parole after serving over 30 years of a life sentence for an accidental death he caused during the throes of an alcohol addiction. Mr. George was convicted of manslaughter in 1993, and his sentence was enhanced under Alabama’s draconian 3-strikes law (his priors were nonviolent theft of property from an unoccupied dwelling, with no weapon and no injuries).
