The Issue
At 777 N Michigan Ave, we as unit owners have faced mounting frustration with the lack of transparency and accountability from our condominium association. Recently, the board made the unilateral decision to dissolve committees such as the garage, service, and budget committees. These groups were critical in examining financial reports and providing oversight on how our association's funds are managed.
For years, one of our greatest concerns has been the financial hemorrhaging associated with the management of our garage facilities. Numerous efforts by concerned committee members to investigate and address this issue have been stymied by the board's actions. Their decision to dissolve these committees denies us, the stakeholders, the ability to ensure that our resources are being used responsibly and effectively.
Adding to our concerns is the board's cancellation of the September board meeting, where critical topics such as our association's reserves, budget allocations, and capital expenditures were supposed to be discussed. 1. Restore access to all financial records and documentation, allowing unit owners to thoroughly review and understand the financial position of the association.
2. Reinstate the previously eliminated committees to ensure proper checks and balances are in place, particularly around budgeting, financial planning, and garage management.
3. Commit to hosting regular, transparent meetings where financial matters and other community-related concerns are discussed openly with input from all stakeholders.
