Sep 22, 2013 — http://www.flickr.com/photos/11593500@N03/9891554434/ When I proposed the idea of using Change.org to encourage the U.S. State Department to assume a leadership role by advocating for the 6 U.S. and 1 British sailors aboard the Nina, we thought we would be lucky to get 500 signatures in 2 weeks. In less thand THREE DAYS we have nearly 1,200 signatures! This is an issue that appeals to all Americans. Administrative bungaling is something every one of us understands. It usually does not arise to the level of life and death, but we know how hard it is to talk to our government. If all of you support the Nina and the 7 crew members, why can't the Department of State support them? Please ask your friends to sign the petition and let's find out why our government is not advocating for it's people. (Thanks to Shelley and Darlene who suggested the idea to me!)
