7 Days, Zero Trumps: A National Attention Reset

7 Days, Zero Trumps: A National Attention Reset
The Issue
We live in a time when every mention of Donald Trump fuels the fire — whether in anger, fear, or fascination. Like the character Voldemort in Harry Potter, whose name gave him power, repeating Trump’s name only amplifies his presence in our lives.
This petition proposes something playful yet powerful: a collective week of silence — where we, as individuals, communities, and media outlets, commit to not speaking, writing, or posting his name. Instead, we focus on what truly matters: solutions, healing, and the people and movements building a better future.
Silence is not avoidance. Silence is power. By choosing where we place our attention, we withdraw energy from what divides us and redirect it to what unites us.
Our Ask
We call on individuals, community groups, and media organizations to:
- Commit to 7 days without using Donald Trump’s name, starting October 20th
- If necessary, refer to him in indirect, light-hearted ways if needed (“He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named,” “The Former Guy,” etc.) without giving the name more airtime.
- Use the freed-up space to highlight stories of hope, progress, justice, and belonging.
Why This Matters
Our attention is one of the most valuable resources we have. If we can shift it away from a cycle of outrage and spectacle, even for a week, we open the possibility of new conversations and cultural priorities.
This is not about censorship. It’s about collective discipline, creativity, and fun. It’s about proving to ourselves that we are not captive to one personality.
By signing this petition, you are joining a quirky, conscious movement to reclaim our attention — and to spark a cultural experiment in focus and collective imagination.
Let’s give the headlines a break. For one week, let’s put our attention where it belongs: on building a better world together.
