🚨 POLISH MUNICIPAL AUTHORITIES ARE HOLDING FIVE ADBA AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIERS — HELP US BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
Formal demands for payment and compensation have now been served on:
- Robert Szewczyk, Mayor of Olsztyn;
- the Municipal Animal Shelter in Olsztyn;
- the Save All Animals Foundation;
- and OTOZ Animals.
The total value of the claims asserted in the formal demands for payment amounts to USD 600,000.
For nearly three years, five of my dogs — SKIF, ZEN, SISI, ZONDA and LOLA — have been held by a Polish municipal institution that continues to refuse to return them.
According to the information available to me, the dogs have been kept confined, isolated from the outside world, deprived of normal contact with their owner, regular human interaction and proper exercise.
They are being hidden from public view.
No independent inspection has been permitted. I have not been allowed to verify their present physical or psychological condition. The authorities refuse to return them, while failing to present a clear, final and legally verifiable reason for keeping them.
THESE ARE NOT “ORDINARY MONGRELS”
These dogs are documented American Pit Bull Terriers registered with the American Dog Breeders Association — ADBA.
Yet Polish officials have repeatedly failed to recognise or properly verify their breed identity. They have treated documented ADBA American Pit Bull Terriers as ordinary mixed-breed dogs and have disregarded their pedigrees, identities and individual characteristics.
This is not merely ignorance about a breed.
This is an attack on documented ownership, the identity of the dogs and the rights of a citizen.
IN POLAND, AN ANIMAL CANNOT SIMPLY BE TAKEN FROM ITS OWNER
Removing an animal from its owner requires a defined legal procedure, specific statutory conditions and an identifiable legal basis.
A public institution cannot simply take possession of privately owned dogs, rename them, isolate them for years and refuse to return them without transparent legal justification.
Yet that is exactly what has happened here.
A Polish municipal shelter is holding my private property while refusing to show the dogs, refusing to return them and refusing to provide an unambiguous legal basis for its actions.
WHY ARE THE DOGS BEING HIDDEN?
I believe the dogs are being kept out of sight because showing their current condition could expose the consequences of nearly three years of confinement and isolation.
Returning them would also force the institutions involved to answer fundamental questions:
- Who authorised their continued detention?
- Who ordered their long-term isolation?
- Who is responsible for their physical and psychological condition?
- Why were their identities changed?
- What legal document permits the shelter to refuse their return?
Keeping animals isolated in order to avoid institutional responsibility cannot be called animal protection.
It is cruelty committed under the banner of “help.”
NEW IRREGULARITIES HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED
Recent findings have raised further concerns about attempts to create or use mechanisms that could allow public institutions to assume ownership of privately owned animals and later transfer, dispose of or sell them.
This would create an extremely dangerous precedent.
Today it concerns five ADBA American Pit Bull Terriers in Olsztyn.
Tomorrow, any owner could lose an animal to an organisation or public institution that simply refuses to give it back.
WE URGENTLY NEED INTERNATIONAL HELP
We appeal to:
ADBA representatives and the international American Pit Bull Terrier community;
independent veterinarians and animal behaviour experts;
animal rights and civil rights organisations;
lawyers, journalists and investigative media;
and every person who believes that no public official is above the law.
We demand:
- an immediate independent inspection of all five dogs;
- full access to their veterinary and behavioural records;
- verification of their identities, pedigrees and identification numbers;
- disclosure of the complete legal basis for their detention;
- and their immediate return unless a valid court order states otherwise.
These dogs have already lost nearly three years of their lives.
They cannot speak.
They cannot show the world what has been done to them.
