Most Middle Schools are running for 7 hours, and nearly half of it is not even spent on core classes. But we know how to change that; make it 4 hours. Now hear me out before you say whatever you want to say. If we make it 4 hours, then we could spend an hour on each core classes and kids can have more fun at home. An extra hour could be spent at school for extracurricular activities such as band, music stuff, clubs, and after school programs. This could make it so whoever actually wants to be in an extracurricular activity to be in one without any people who don't want to be in there slowing down the learning process. People would have to spend at least one extra hour in school for physical education for at least one semester. School would begin at 8am and end at 12pm or 1pm depending on if the kid is doing after school activities or not. Upsides would be that we would get more time focusing on core classes and more time spent at home on entertainment and family activities. Teachers would have more time off to spend grading and planning. On after school activities people would learn faster because there be no slowing down from people who don't want to be in there and also only the people who want to be in that class would be in the class. Class starting at 8 is also a good idea because kids can get more rest to be less tired when school starts. Now a major downside would be getting home from school since it ends a lot quicker some kids could not have anyone to get them and busses won’t fix them because there are not busses for everyone and not every spot has a buss zone and some parents will be a work so school could have afterschool time for people who don't have anywhere to go until someone can pick them up.
