The Issue
OUR MISSION
"3Ps: PAWerful, PAWsome, PAWsitive" is a project by STEM students of Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School that aims to promote awareness on the welfare of stray animals to address their situation about experiencing extreme heat during the summer season. According to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), animals are more prone to heatstroke than people because they cannot sweat. They rely on panting to control their body temperature, which isn't always enough in hot conditions. Due to this, we want to start a project that will provide assistance and protection to the strays by giving them food, water, and temporary shelter. This petition will boost our campaign to encourage more people to join us on our mission.
OUR BENEFACTORS
Through the help of our benefactors, several lives will change. The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) estimated in 2019 that there are 12 million stray dogs and cats in the country. In a tropical country like the Philippines, heat is hard to beat. Many of our companions are experiencing heat stroke due to the weather. By signing this petition, we ensure that every help the proponents will receive is given out to the animals waiting for the love, care, and respect they deserve.
OUR PROJECT'S RELEVANCE
Animals are not an exception to heat-related illnesses. This May, PAGASA warned the public to be more cautious when staying outdoors because of the heat index that averages from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius. Climate change has worsened throughout the years, and every living being became more vulnerable to risks of fatigue and exhaustion. This is a relevant issue that must be given enough attention since the lives of strays are at stake. Participating in this petition will give these animals a voice to protect and fight for their rights in this world.
