30mph LIMIT on Hatchet Lane for Safer Pedestrians

30mph LIMIT on Hatchet Lane for Safer Pedestrians
The Issue
Hi
I am Brani , one of the residents on Hatchet Lane.
Since we moved here in 2022, we noticed the constant threat to our safety due to speeding vehicles on our beloved Hatchet Lane.
As residents, we are feeling increasingly unsafe when cars speed past us too fast and too close. Due to limited pavement space, there is barely any buffer between us, the pedestrians, and the vehicles. The situation has escalated to the point where we fear for our children's lives as they walk to catch the school bus or walk to the park. Our usual tranquil walks with our dog now carry an undercurrent of fear.
It is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident on our street. Therefore, we demand a vital step for our community's safety: a reduction of the speed limit from its current limit to 30 miles per hour on Hatchet Lane and improve pedestrian safety. This would not only reduce the potential harm in case of accidents, but it would also provide more reaction time for drivers. Let's make Hatchet Lane a safe place for our children, for our elders, and for everyone who values the simple pleasure of a walk without fear.
We urge BRACKNELL FOREST COUNCIL to take immediate action by implementing a lower speed limit and exploring additional traffic-calming measures to address the current safety concerns.
Please support this petition to help create safer streets for everyone in our community.
