The corner of Bay Street and Old Venice Road is a dangerous intersection. Currently the T-shaped intersection has one stop sign. We need a traffic light or two more stop signs to make the intersection safer. 

The intersection is dangerous because of foliage on the southwestern corner. In addition, the large amount of school-related traffic would be made safer for pedestrians and bicyclists if a traffic light or extra stop signs were added. Pine View School is on Old Venice Road and the intersection is just beyond the school zone.

Recently a student was hit at this intersection while crossing the crosswalk. I have also witnessed cars struggling to turn eastward onto Bay Street due to the bushes that cover the southwestern corner. 

Adding a traffic light or stop signs would benefit the safety of children traveling to and from Pine View. The Sarasota County Board of Commissioners would need to approve this change.
