Hi All,

I'm Kelvin from number 21 and I have lived in Brookmans Avenue for nearly 16 years. I wanted to update everyone on what is happening in the Avenue.

I have recently been made aware that a Private landlord now owns house number 28 which is being converted so that he can rent out 4 rooms to 4 separate Council tenants, with the possibility of these tenants being ex-offenders or previously mentally ill.

I have nothing against Council tenants or the mentally ill, however we've all worked very hard to have our homes that we pay mortgages on and I'd prefer not to live close to criminals - especially when we don't know what they were convicted of. Having two small children, this a major concern to me.

I'm also worried about the potential for all the extra cars being parked in the street, not to mention the potential trouble / thefts / damage that having criminals living in our street could bring.

I have been advised by Birmingham Council to speak to our local Councillors for Quinton, Professor John Clancy, Katie Booth and also MP Preet Gill and ask them to intervene.
