20mph Speed Limit in Weston NOW!

The Issue

A 20MPH SPEED LIMIT IN WESTON IS NEEDED URGENTLY.

SIGN THIS PETITION TO FAST-TRACK THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS DESPERATELY NEEDED SAFETY MEASURE IN OUR VILLAGE!

Our beautiful village of Weston is witnessing a growing concern with road safety. With narrow roads winding throughout our community, the increasing speed of vehicles has become a significant danger. Personally, I have seen the devastating impact this has had on our local wildlife. Animals are being knocked down, and it's heart-wrenching to witness. My cat, along with many others in the village, has been knocked down and required expensive and invasive surgery to fix her. More alarmingly, the safety of our children and nursery-goers is at grave risk as cars zoom by without regard for the narrow pathways.

In communities like ours, where children walk to school and play outside, the speed at which cars travel should be a matter of immediate concern. We've noticed with increasing frequency how close calls have become a regular feature of daily life in Weston. Our narrow roads simply aren't designed to accommodate speeding vehicles.

Studies show that reducing speed limits to 20mph drastically lowers the risk of fatal accidents and can reduce casualties by 30% or more. Implementing a 20mph speed limit in areas similar to ours has proven to significantly decrease accidents and improve the overall quality of life by making roads safer for both pedestrians and drivers.

The village of Weston deserves this chance for a safer, more secure environment for all its residents—humans and wildlife alike. We are calling on the local council and relevant authorities to allocate the necessary funding to implement a 20mph speed zone throughout our village immediately.

Together, we can make a difference QUICKLY. We need your support to urge the decision-makers to prioritise safety in Weston, IMMEDIATELY, NOT "next-year". Let us protect our community's future and ensure that everyone, especially our children, can walk and play without fear.

Please sign this petition to help bring about the change our village desperately needs.
