RPD must investigate potential officer involvement in the attack on the U.S. Capitol

RPD must investigate potential officer involvement in the attack on the U.S. Capitol
The Issue
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Richmond City Council open an investigation into potential Richmond Police Department officer and/or employee involvement in the January 6 terror attack on the U.S. Capitol.
We ask that City Council:
1. Request a report from RPD indicating which employees did not report to work on January 6, 2021.
2. Require that all RPD officers and employees immediately disclose a) whether or not they were present in D.C. on January 6; b) whether or not they attended "Stop the Steal" rallies in D.C. on that day; and/or c) whether or not they entered the U.S. Capitol building - or any federal property - in defiance of the efforts of Capitol police to turn them away.
3. Require RPD officers and employees disclose all affiliations - past and present - with white supremacist, Klan-adjacent organizations including, but not limited to:
Proud Boys
Three Percenters
Boogaloo Boys
alt-right groups
white nationalist groups
white separatist groups
American Identity Movement
"Christian Identity"
neo-Nazis
the KKK
4. Require all RPD officers and employees to reveal any tattoos or brands indicating they may currently be a member of the aforementioned organizations.
5. Require that such disclosures be included in the hiring process going forward.
6. Require that social media accounts of those suspected to be members of white supremacist organizations/suspected of involvement in the January 6 terror attack be monitored, electronically captured, and forwarded to the FBI. This information needs to be collected ASAP before social media accounts are scrubbed.
In short, we want an investigation.
We want assurances that we are not being policed by white supremacists, domestic terrorists, or those that provide operational aid and material support to same. We elected you to do your utmost to protect us, particularly your Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Latinx citizens of color, and we look forward to your swift, unequivocal response.
