After the formation of Telangana, the government pledged to provide free education from Kindergarten (KG) to Postgraduate (PG) levels and to ensure that government schools offer quality education on par with corporate institutions. However, during its ten-year tenure, the previous government allocated an average of only 6.6% of the state budget to school education.

The current government, which came to power promising to strengthen schools and provide quality education by allocating 15% of the budget to education, has only allocated 7.6% in the 2024-25 state budget.

This drastic shortfall in funding is further deteriorating the quality of education in government schools. Telangana now ranks 35th out of 36 states and union territories in the National Performance Grading Index for School Education. Colleges and universities are also suffering from severe shortages of teaching and non-teaching staff, basic infrastructure, and research funding.

For the poor and marginalized, education is the only path to liberation. Ensuring quality education with adequate resources cannot be compromised. The government has a constitutional responsibility to uphold the right to education.

Recognizing the critical state of education in Telangana, we demand that 15% of the state budget be allocated to education to put the education system back on the path of development

తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర బడ్జెట్‌లో 15% విద్యకు కేటాయించాలి

 

తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ఏర్పాటుకు తర్వాత, ప్రభుత్వ ప్రాథమిక స్థాయి నుండి పీజీ వరకు ఉచితవిద్యను అందించేందుకు, అలాగే ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలల్లో కార్పొరేట్ విద్యా సంస్థలకుసమానమైన నాణ్యమైన విద్యను కల్పించేందుకు సంకల్పించింది. అయితే, గత పదిసంవత్సరాల్లో మునుపటి ప్రభుత్వం పాఠశాల విద్యకు రాష్ట్ర బడ్జెట్‌లో సగటున కేవలం6.6% మాత్రమే కేటాయించింది.

 

ప్రస్తుత ప్రభుత్వం విద్యను బలోపేతం చేసి, 15% బడ్జెట్‌ను విద్యకు కేటాయిస్తామనిహామీ ఇచ్చి అధికారంలోకి వచ్చినప్పటికీ, 2024-25 రాష్ట్ర బడ్జెట్‌లో కేవలం 7.6% మాత్రమే కేటాయించింది.

 

ఈ భారీగా తగ్గిన నిధుల కేటాయింపు ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలల విద్యా ప్రమాణాలను మరింతదిగజారుస్తోంది. పాఠశాల విద్యా నేషనల్ పెర్ఫార్మెన్స్ గ్రేడింగ్ ఇండెక్స్‌లో తెలంగాణ 36 రాష్ట్రాలు, కేంద్ర పాలిత ప్రాంతాల్లో 35వ స్థానానికి పడిపోయింది. కళాశాలలు మరియువిశ్వవిద్యాలయాలు కూడా బోధనా మరియు బోధనేతర సిబ్బంది కొరత, మౌలిక  వసతులకొరత పరిశోధన నిధుల కొరత వంటి సమస్యలను తీవ్రంగా ఎదుర్కొంటున్నాయి.

 

పేదలు, బలహీన వర్గాల ప్రజలకు విద్యే విముక్తి మార్గం. తగిన నిధులతో నాణ్యమైనవిద్యను అందించడం ప్రభుత్వ చట్ట బద్ధ బాధ్యత. 

 

తెలంగాణలో విద్యావ్యవస్థ దుస్థితిని గుర్తించి, విద్యను అభివృద్ధి మార్గంలో పెట్టేందుకురాష్ట్ర బడ్జెట్‌లో 15% విద్యకు కేటాయించాలని మేము డిమాండ్ చేస్తున్నాం.
