We have had a shift from the Government with Amber Rudd yesterday confirming that a task force will be set up to process documentation free of charge for anyone who came here from the Commonwealth before 1973. But is it enough? After relentless lobbying from many quarters (including you the petition signers) questions on the matter were heard yesterday in the House of Commons. David Lammy MP gave a rousing speech linking the current disgrace to the historical atrocities of colonisation and enslavement. It is important that reparatory justice is sought. This episode is just one in many many years of attack on people from the African heritage communities and therefore constitutes an element of the Maangamizi - the historic and current attack on people of African descent.
