11 Mile Reservoir Unsafe Road Conditions

The Issue

County Roads 90, 92, 23, and 59 are currently in a pothole frenzied state. These roads lead to multiple businesses and 11 Mile Reservoir. Travelers on these roads swerve all over to avoid the multiple craters and holes to avoid any vehicular damage. These conditions are hazardous and raise concern for those who have to use it via car transportation daily.

There have been multiple accidents, deaths, and damage to vehicles in the last few years. Thousands travel these roads, which are some of the worse in the state (see stats by clicking link below). Our state should be embarrassed by the conditions our roads are in. Businesses are affected by the road conditions and rely on people wanting to vacation in this area. If the roads are not maintained, then businesses will eventually fail.

Additionally, our emergency responders are going to end up with damage to their vehicles and end up costing us more in tax money to make repairs. Or, worse, they may not make it to us when we have emergencies because they crashed due to the road damage.

Park County has reached out to our Governor, but was turned down on their request for additional funding. Now, we as residents are taking action to ask for help to repair our roads. We would like state park dollars to provide sustainable funding, and/or possibly adding a 1% sales tax, with specific language to include these county roads to be the primary focus.

Please sign this petition to get their attention as it is time these roads are repaired properly to ensure the safety of individuals and their vehicles who have to commute down this road.
