Mandatory Scanning at Vets

The Issue

There are many petitions I've seen who are campaigning for the same cause.

However, this continues to be a worldwide problem.

Vets should scan ALL NEW PETS that come into their surgeries to ensure the chip matches the details of the person bringing them in and if not, why not? (Sometimes it can be a case of the animals just being picked up from previous owners etc, however they should have evidence of this). Also if the animal is not chipped, it should be offered to be done there and then by the Vets, or, an appointment be made to do so.

Too many times I've read about pets going missing for years, only to have them contacted years later by a random pound / rehoming kennel, or, never reunited; which is just heartbreaking. Yet so much heartbreak can be ended by a simple scan at the vets.

So here's a fresh petition to go round and hopefully have the law looked at and changed in regards to this.
