Due to L3Covid and the Worksafe prohibition order for unsafe practice the remaining 30 or so trees (20 of these are of significant size) have another chance of us saving them.

Much work is going on in parallel with the on-site vigils in an attempt to broker a deal with council, Kainga Ora, DoC, the owners, developers and private finance and secure the site for the future.

The biggest obstacle is the owners, who are hell bent on demolishing the trees to placate a Ltd company and hopefully sell the land.

There will be a givealittle set up to assist in financing the purchase of this land. If we fail here we will succeed in establishing a charity to pursue ‘the private purchase for public good’ of ecologically valuable land to be held in perpetuity.
