I wanted to share a meaningful update with everyone who has supported Theo’s story and this proposed legislation.
After I submitted the proposed language for Theo’s Law to Senator Drew Echols’ office, his office confirmed that Senator Echols spoke with Georgia Legislative Counsel, and that the language is now being recrafted to fit within current Georgia code and drafted into bill form.
Because new bills cannot be formally introduced until the 2027 Georgia legislative session begins in January, this is still an early step but it is an incredibly important one.
I am deeply grateful to Senator Echols, his office, and Legislative Counsel for taking the proposal seriously and giving this issue thoughtful review.
Theo’s Law began from one family’s fight to make sure a student with disabilities was not forgotten. The goal remains simple: no student who has earned graduation should be excluded from that milestone because of disability, medical, residential care, or institutional barriers.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Theo and this effort. Every signature, share, prayer, and word of encouragement helps move this forward.
