They have heard about at least 7 other deaths of restrained patients besides Kelly, and are undertaking various actions. Already they have helped release one patient who had been restrained for over 3 months. The Ministey Of Health, Labour and Welfare is in the middle of a large-scale survey of restraint practices, but the organization is concerned that the details of the survey are not public and the Organization Of Psychiatric Hospitals is refusing to cooperate. That makes it even more important for foreign psychiatrists to make their concerns known. Will post further updates as they are known.
