In a new article published by Taiwan News, David Spencer has done a superb job of summing up the first week of the Tokyo Olympics. His title alone says it all: "World waking up to fallacy of 'Chinese Taipei' compromise."
Here's how he explains the injustice:
"In recent years, the kickback against a name and a flag that represents no one has been growing. It has been noted that the only other nation competing in Tokyo under an assumed identity is Russia (under ROC) — but they have been banned from international competition for systemic doping violations.
Taiwan is guilty of no such crime yet because of the whims of an authoritarian regime in another country, we have to endure the same fate."
He adds:
"There has also been a groundswell of opinion pieces from supporters of Taiwan lambasting the fact that a democratic nation is treated this way, at the behest of a genocidal communist dictatorship."
In response to the CCP's claims of feeling offended when other countries refuse to use the name "Chinese Taipei" to refer to Taiwan, Spencer notes:
"If any nation should be offended, it is Taiwan, since it is forced to compete under a made-up name in order to appease a hostile foreign state."

If you don't understand Korean or Chinese, you can try using the Google Translate camera feature on a smartphone to follow along. My understanding is that the hosts of this YouTube channel are a couple. The man is Korean and the woman is Taiwanese, so they are able to offer viewers a bridge between cultures.
Tomorrow: Live Stream Interview on Facebook with the Asia Pacific Youth Association in Taiwan
I was invited to do a live stream interview tomorrow, 8-9pm Taiwan time. If you are interested in watching, you can find more details HERE. This is event description:
"In 2018 Taiwan track star Chi Cheng led the failed referendum to "Use the Name Taiwan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics", though the issue of the Taiwan team name at the Tokyo Olympics remained a topic of conversation in Taiwan.
However, this issue is of interest not only to people in Taiwan. Lindell Lucy, an American who lives in Tokyo, has led an online petition to Let Taiwan Be Taiwan at the Tokyo Olympics, which received over 130,000 signatures.
Why has Lindell Lucy enthusiastically supported this effort over Taiwan's name at the Olympics?
On Sunday August 1st, join us for a live stream chat with Lindell Lucy as we discuss Taiwan's name at the Tokyo Olympics."
