The Taiwan Research Forum has announced a protest event on its Facebook page: Don’t Say Chinese Taipei at the Olympics! If you are in Tokyo and interested in joining, please sign up HERE.
I, Lindell Lucy, will be attending. Mr. Hideki Nagamaya, the chairman of the Taiwan Research Forum, asked me to share the following details:
The event will consist of nothing more than shooting photos and video calling for the IOC to let Taiwan use the name "Taiwan" at the Paris 2024 Olympics. We will also be advocating for a boycott of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The event will be completed in a relatively short time, but it will be meaningful nonetheless. If you agree with all of the above, you are very welcome to join.

VIDEO: Japanese Children Root for Taiwan at Olympics
Numerous schoolchildren and local government officials from Japan have participated in a new video showing support for Taiwan at the Tokyo Olympics. Two versions have been released, one with Chinese subtitles and one with English & Japanese subtitles.
In the video, the Chinese Taipei flag is displayed throughout, but this was probably mandatory since the president of the Chinese Taipei Paralympic Committee appears at the end. None of the speakers say "Chinese Taipei" though. Everyone says "Taiwan."
China's Olympic Hissy Fit
The Taipei Times published an article this morning titled, "China's Olympic Hissy Fit." It echos a point I made a couple of days ago, when I argued that the CCP is embarrassing China by reacting hysterically when foreign countries refer to Taiwan as "Taiwan" (not Chinese Taipei).
According to the CCP, when foreigners refuse to parrot its lies that Taiwan is a part of China (PRC), it supposedly "hurts the feelings" of the whole Chinese nation of 1.4 billion people.
News flash for the CCP: Foreigners respect the Taiwanese people and their feelings. What foreigners don't respect is a government that stands in front of the whole world and acts like an angry two-year-old child throwing a temper tantrum when it wants something that doesn't belong to it but can't have it.
Democracies Must Unite to Support Taiwan
The Taipei Times published another article praising Lithuania. It is titled "Lithuania leads in defying China." Here's a quote:
"This is the challenge for other democratic nations: How much do they believe in democracy, not only for themselves, but also for others? Would they sacrifice Taiwan’s democracy to gain trade opportunities with China?
Lithuania is a tiny giant in this regard. It is looking out for Taiwan, and stands as a beacon and model to others. Its message is clear: “Our principles and actions are before you. We have resisted the undue influence of Russia and China. If we can do it, so can you.”
Taiwanese Independence Advocates Vow to Keep Fighting
The Taipei Times also published an article titled "Independence advocates vow to keep fight going." Here's a quote:
"“For 100 years, Taiwan has been under the rule of colonial regimes. Now we have democracy and freedom for the people,” Koo Kwang-ming said. “We can peacefully vote in a referendum to change the constitution, which would suit Taiwan.”
“It is an issue we must undertake for the sake of future generations,” he said.
“Therefore, we will go all out to win this case,” he added."
US Congress Rejects "One China" Lie
Yesterday, Taiwan News published an article titled, "US House passes bill banning purchase of maps depicting Taiwan as part of China." Taipei Times also published a related article titled, "US bill to fund 'honest' Taiwan maps."
Congressman Tom Tiffany is quoted liberally:
In his floor statement, Tiffany described the amendment as a "common-sense measure" given that "we all know that Taiwan has never been part of communist China."
Tiffany pointed out that the people of Taiwan "elect their own leaders, raise their own armed forces, conduct their own foreign policy, and maintain their own international trade agreements." He stressed that Taiwan is a sovereign, democratic, and independent country "by every measure" and that claims to the contrary are "simply false."
The congressman chastised the "one China" policy followed by the U.S. since the 1970s as "Beijing’s bogus argument that Taiwan is part of communist China." Tiffany described the policy as "dishonest" and called for it to be abandoned.
He acknowledged that although it is not possible to end the "one China" policy with the appropriations bill, Congress can "at least require honest maps that stop perpetuating the "'one China' lie."
Concluding his remarks, he declared: "Communist China is communist China, Mr. Speaker. And Taiwan is Taiwan."
Australians Ask Why Taiwan Competes as Chinese Taipei
An Australian news site (news.com.au) has posted a video titled "Why Taiwan is competing as Chinese Taipei at the Olympics in Tokyo."
BBC Highlights Olympic Injustice
The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) has published an article in Chinese that discusses why Taiwan can't compete using its real name. The article is titled, "東京奧運:三個不能用自己國家名字參賽的代表隊".
