วันนึงดิฉันได้เห็นโพสเรื่องวิธีเลี้ยงห่านและเป็ดเพื่อตับ (Foie Gras) ทำให้ดิฉันไม่กล้าที่จะบริโภคมันอีกและอยู่เฉยๆไม่ได้ที่จะแชร์โพสนั้นต่อไปอีกแต่ทว่านั่นยังไม่พอเพราะมันไม่เปลี่ยนแปลงอะไรเลย 

ดิฉันสมัครใน change.org นานแล้วจึงนึกได้ว่าควรใช้ช่องทางนี้ให้เป็นประโยชน์ในการรณรงค์เรื่องนี้

ดิฉันขอเป็นกระบอกเสียงให้เพื่อสัตว์ปีกเหล่านี้เขาจะได้ไม่ต้องทุกข์ทรมาณเพื่อเป็นของทานเล่นโก้ๆให้เราอีกต่อไป

เป็นเพียงแค่ Rich man's food เท่านั้นเอง

ดิฉันได้อ่านบทความจากหลายที่มาจึงอยากจะเผยแพร่ให้รับรู้ว่าการที่เลี้ยงพวกห่านและเป็ดเพื่อตับนั้นเขาทำอย่างไรเพื่อที่จะช่วยให้ตัดสินใจว่าการรับประทานเป็ดและห่านเพียงเพื่อตับนั้นต้องทรมานพวกเขาแค่ใหนก่อนจะมาเป็นอาหารให้เรา

 คนที่ชอบกินบางคนบอกว่าก็มันหรูมันอร่อยและไม่รู้ว่ามันมีที่มาน่าสะพรึงกลัวขนาดนี้ตอนนี้คุณรู้แล้วนะคะ

 นอกจากนี้ประเทศอเมริกาจะแบนการทำฟาร์มตับห่านแล้วในกลุ่มประเทศEU ได้มีการต่อต้านการเลี้ยงห่านและเป็ดเพื่อตับแล้วเหมือนกัน

ถ้าเราว่ากันด้วยเรื่อง Demand & Supply ถ้าประเทศผู้ผลิตเหล่านี้ได้มีการแบนแล้ว  แต่ทำไมในภัตคารหรือโรงแรมในประเทศไทย หรือแม้แต่ supermarket ยังได้มีการจำหน่ายFoie Gras อยู่อีกคะ?  ถ้าเราตัด demand จากประเทศไทยร่วมด้วย ก็จะทำให้ยุติการจำหน่ายและบริโภคตับห่านได้มากขึ้น

 เหมือนอย่างที่อินเดียได้ทำแบนการนำเข้าตับห่านไปเรียบร้อยแล้ว การออกกฎหมายนี้ช่างน่ายกย่องมากค่ะ

 "เมื่อวันที่5 ก.ค.2557 อินเดียประกาศห้ามนำเข้าตับห่านหลังจากนักเคลื่อนไหวพิทักษ์สัตว์ร้องเรียนมาว่าวิธีการที่ถูกนำมาใช้เพื่อผลิตตับห่านอันแสนอร่อยและราคาแพงนั้นโหดร้ายและทารุณสัตว์เป็นอย่างมากโดยเว็บไซต์ของคณะกรรมการการค้าต่างประเทศอินเดียระบุว่านโยบายนำเข้าสินค้าประเภท “ตับห่าน” ได้แก้ไขจาก “อนุญาต” เป็น “ห้าม”"

ดิฉันจึงต้องการรณรงค์ให้เมืองไทยแบนการนำเข้าของตับห่านอย่างชัดเจน โดยการออกกฎหมายห้ามนำเข้า และออกกฎหมายอย่างเข้มงวดไม่ให้มีการลักลอบนำเข้าหรือลักลอบผลิดในประเทศหรือมิให้มีการเผยแพร่บทความส่งเสริมให้รับประทานตับห่านตับเป็ดในสิ่งพิมพ์ทั้งหลายใหนประเทศด้วยเช่นกัน

 ดิฉันและคนหลายๆคนขอร่วมไม่บริโภคตับห่านแล้ว และดิฉันเชื่อว่ามีอีกหลายเสียงที่ไม่ขอบริโภคตับห่านตับเป็ดเช่นกัน

ดิฉันอยากให้เมืองไทยเมืองพุทธที่เจริญศีลธรรมเช่นนี้หยุดการนำเข้าตับห่านหรือเลี้ยงในประเทศอย่างทรมาณเพื่อนำเอาตับพวกเขามาบริโภค

 ห่านและเป็ดร้องขอชีวิตด้วยคำพูดไม่ได้ดิฉันจึงขอเป็นกระบอกเสียงให้พวกเขา

ได้โปรดรับพิจารณาและแบนการนำเข้าตับห่านนี้

I only want to take your time for a couple of minutes.

I've recently read a few articles about how geese farm mistreated its livestock while in the process of harvesting liver (Foie Gras) and it just saddened me how cruel this industry can be. I was hoping to raise awareness, but instead decided to take an action to make a difference by creating a petition letter on Change.org to ban Foie Gras import into Thailand, and to stop restaurants in Thailand from serving Foie Gras, as well as to stop media from publishing food articles that promotes Foie Gras as fine delicacy. I want a stricter law in Thailand. And I hope all of you would help me achieve this.

 You are all great, kind, and smart, and I was hoping that most of you could help me sign this petition. Some of my friends from all over the world, students, expats, celebrities, have helped signed my petition. What I intend to do with it is once I have a handful of names of people, I will file the petition with the FDA (or the organization that is the decision maker to stop the importation of Foie Gras into Thailand).

 If you must know, most of the world's Foie Gras producers are located in EU and US, and most have stopped this practice or shut down their farms because there has been many protests against this cruelty. And to my curiosity, if the world's major producers have stopped farming Foie Gras, and we (Thailand) haven't stopped consuming them, how are we really contributing to the law of supply and demand? Of course, we have only contributed to them killing more geese and ducks! So if we impose a stricter law on Foie Gras importation, selling, and promotion, or even domestic illegal farming in Thailand, we are cutting our demand for it, and eventually this industry will wane away. No demand, no supply. Right?

 On July 5th, 2014, Indian government have banned the importation of Foie Gras into their country, meaning that it cannot be sold anywhere in the country. India has set an example for us, as a country to be praised for, on their noble action. Not only that, there are many more countries that has outlawed the force-feeding of these birds like Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. They have all taken the higher path. But not us. 

 I used to love eating Foie Gras. I also used to think that its rich creamy texture were "to die for". But that was because the media told me it taste delicious that I ought to try it. However, after I became an educated consumer, I think that Foie Gras is repulsive. The smell of it makes me want to vomit; it reminds me of horrible images of geese and ducks being shoved with metal pipe down their throats all the way to their intestines, and that is called force feeding.

 All I could think of is how cruel it is for me to be feeding off these poor birds, that's been force fed just for their livers, to die for our experience and pleasure of gastronomical dining. Nothing is heavenly about its taste. It's a pompous food, for pretentious people, who wants to be associated with having a "good taste" (apologize for the language). But what is so good about it? What is there to taste except pain and murder in every bite that we take from a food as such.

For me, it is just wrong on so many levels, and without instilling this morality and conscientiousness in all of us, we would become a second-hand supporter of animal cruelty, as well as responsible for letting the profiteers reap off big cold hard cashes from all of us ignorantly.

 For these geese and ducks who cannot speak for themselves. I decided to be their voice. To speak for them. I vow to take this matter seriously with all my best effort, with all my heart, with my believe in what's the right thing to do, in a higher path.

 Let's walk this path with me. Let's be noble and stop eating Foie Gras, and help me sign my petition today to end this cruelty once and for all the poor bird's sake, or at least for your own.
