 شهادة التوحيد هي الركن الأساسي للدين الإسلامي، وهي تتعرض للإساءة الآن بسبب وجودها البارز على علم المملكة العربية السعودية. وبصفتي مسلماً ملتزماً، أجد هذا الاستخدام مهيناً بشدة ومسيئاً لقدسية عقيدتنا.

إن شهادة التوحيد - "لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله" - هي أساس نظام عقيدتنا، وتحمل قيمة لا تُقدر بثمن لـ 1.8 مليار مسلم حول العالم. 

وإن وضع هذا النص الديني والشخصي العميق على علم وطني يعرضه لمواقف تتعارض مع مُثلنا الدينية، حيث قد يتعرض العلم للدوس أو الحرق أو الاستخدام بطرق قد تُفسر على أنها إهانة واسعة النطاق للإسلام.

علم المملكة العربية السعودية هو العلم الوحيد في العالم الذي يحمل أي نص ديني أو شهادة إيمان كهذه. 

وتعد المملكة العربية السعودية أيضاً واحدة من دولتين لا يتم تنكيس علمهما الوطني أبداً، حتى في حالات الحداد، وذلك لعدم إهانة الشهادة، ومع ذلك، فإن هذا لا ينفي إمكانية إساءة الاستخدام في ظروف أخرى.

لذلك، نطالب بإزالة الشهادة من العلم الوطني للمملكة العربية السعودية؛ لضمان احترام قدسيتها والقضاء على أي إمكانية لإساءة استخدامها أو تدنيسها. 

يجب علينا احترام هذه العقيدة، ووضعها فوق أي احتمال لسوء التفسير، وتأكيد المبدأ العالمي للكرامة الدينية.

I am urging you to take this stand with me as this is an issue very close to my heart. The Shahada, a venerable proclamation in Islam, is being exploited due to its significant presence on the Saudi Arabian flag. As a devoted Muslim, I find this misuse deeply insulting and derogatory to the sanctity of our faith. 

The Shahada - "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah" - is the very foundation of our belief system, and it holds unfathomable worth for 1.8 billion Muslims globally. (Pew Research Center, 2015). Embedding this deeply religious and personal declaration on a national flag exposes it to situations that are inconsistent with our religious ideals wherein the flag may be trampled, burned, or used in ways that could be interpreted as widespread disrespect towards Islam.

The Saudi flag is the only world flag to bear any religious script or such a fervently cherished testament of faith. Coincidentally, Saudi Arabia is also one of the two countries whose national flag is never flown at half-mast, even in mourning, to not disrespect the Shahada (Global News, 2015). However, this does not negate the potential misuse in other circumstances.

We ask, therefore, that the Shahada be removed from the Saudi Arabian national flag to ensure respect for its sanctity and to eliminate any potential misuse or desecration. We must respect this belief, hold it above the potential for misinterpretation, and affirm the universal principle of religious dignity. Add your voice to this crucial cause - sign the petition today.
