PETICION OFICIAL CONTRA LA SENTENCIA DEL TRIBUNAL EUROPEO 16/10/25 EN EL CASO MONA
MONA NO ERA EQUIPAJE, ERA UN SER SINTIENTE.
En 2019, una perrita llamada Mona se escapó de las manos de Iberia durante el embarque de un vuelo a Madrid. Fue atrapada al poco tiempo, pero volvió a perderse una segunda vez al escaparse de las instalaciones del aeropuerto de Buenos Aires, donde la habían guardado.
La familia de Mona denunció hasta llegar al Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea (TJUE). Pero dicho Tribunal ha dictaminado este jueves que los animales de compañía no están excluidos del concepto de “equipaje”. Es decir, las aerolíneas pueden tratar a nuestros animales como objetos y no están obligadas a pagar una indemnización adicional por su pérdida más allá de la compensación estipulada por ley en caso de extravío de maletas.
Firma aquí, por favor, para que esto cambie y nuestros animales sean tratados como seres sintientes y no cómo maletas cuando viajamos en avión.

OFFICIAL PETITION AGAINST THE CJEU RULING OF 16/10/25 IN THE MONA´S CASE
MONA WAS NOT LUGGAGE, SHE WAS A SENTIENT BEING.
Mona was not luggage, she was a sentient being.
In 2019, a little dog named Mona escaped from Iberia’s custody during boarding on a flight to Madrid. She was caught shortly after, but got lost a second time after escaping from the Buenos Aires airport facilities where she had been kept.
Mona’s family took legal action all the way to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). But the Court ruled this Thursday that pets are not excluded from the concept of “luggage.”
In other words, airlines can treat our animals as objects and are not required to pay extra compensation for their loss beyond what is legally provided for lost luggage.
Sign here, please, so this changes and our animals are treated as sentient beings, not as suitcases, when we fly.
At Flytogether, we want to BREAK THE VICIOUS AND CRUEL CYCLE that perpetuates abuse against our animals during air travel.
And it is up to society to break it. By mobilizing, raising our voices, and demanding an immediate update to the Montreal Convention to include domestic animals as sentient beings with rights in case of an accident.
Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right.
