Jollibee: Stop Profiting off Tortured Hens

Jollibee: Stop Profiting off Tortured Hens
The Issue
Jollibee Foods Corporation, the parent company of Jollibee, Smashburger, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, Chowking, and Mang Inasal is responsible for the cruel and archaic confinement of millions of egg-laying hens in cramped, filthy cages.
These diseased and injured hens are so tightly crammed in small cages, they can’t move or spread their wings. Often, their body parts are caught in the caging, resulting in fractured or broken bones, deformities, and severe feather loss. Some hens, exhausted or unable to move, are trampled to death by their cage mates.
These cages are not only cruel to animals, but they also pose a serious food safety risk to consumers. Hens in these cages are forced to live, breathe, and lay eggs for human consumption while trapped amongst feces and rotting bodies. Eggs from caged hens are up to 25x more likely to contain Salmonella.
Major companies around the world are ditching cages. Global commitments to go cage-free have been made by more than 130 companies around the world, including Toridoll, Minor Foods, Yum! Brands, Inspire Brands, RBI, Burger King, Tim Hortons, Unilever, Nestle, Aldi, Sodexo, Compass Group, Shake Shack, Famous Brands, Costa Coffee, and Barilla. Even low-end fast food and pet food companies are moving away from this horrible practice.
Jollibee Foods Corporation claims to recognize “its responsibility and opportunity to impact sustainability issues in the quick service industry” but the conditions in which they source their eggs are horrendous and cruel. Customers around the world are losing trust while Jollibee, Smashburger, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, Chowking, and Mang Inasal profit from the unfathomable abuse of millions of animals. Please sign this petition asking Jollibee Foods Corporation to go cage-free.
