Raj Babbar claims that one can buy a full meal in Mumbai for Rs 12 and we’re asking him to prove it.

Babbar’s statement resulted from his attempt to defend Congress’s claim that poverty has declined to 22 per cent since the government came to power. By declaring the national poverty line at Rs.28, the government is attempting to eliminate large numbers of people from the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.

This doesn’t reduce poverty -- it just deprives people living in poor conditions of the social welfare benefits they deserve. 

We cannot stand by and let the government get away with such farce. We’re calling on Raj Babbar to live off two meals a day, 12 rupees each, and cover his remaining expenses of travel, clothing, health and shelter with the remaining 10 rupees.

If you want to set the poverty line to Rs. 34, then show to the country that you can live off it yourself.

Live off Rs.12, 2 meals a day, for one week in Mumbai.
