Rally held to demonstrate support for our national museums!
On Saturday 15th June, a rally was held outside the National Railway Museum in York. The rally was called so that the community could show support for the campaign to save our national museums.
With just two days notice, over 100 people attended the rally at which York Council Leader Cllr. James Alexander, Railway Chaplain Rev. Stephen Sorby and York MP Hugh Bayley addressed the crowd.
The rally was covered by BBC and ITV regional news and a video of the event can be seen at
The transcript of Rev. Stephen Sorby's speech is also online:
After the rally Hugh Bayley pledged his support for the campaign and promised to continue to raise the issue in parliament.
There are plans to raise this petition in the House of Commons where the government will have to respond. The date for this will be confirmed online.
Thank you to everyone that continues to support the campaign!
