Oxford City Council owns the building that East Oxford Community Association occupies and manages. The Council proposes to take over management of the Community Centre, and run it themselves. The Community Association has run the Centre since 1976, and has carried out major improvements to the Centre. The Council has neglected the building, only doing repairs that patch up but do not make real improvements. 

For many years the Community Association has been aware that the City Council has had alternative ideas for the use of the site. Recently the City Council gave the Association notice to quit. we believe this will give them the opportunity to sell part of the sight for redevelopment and significantly reduce community management of the Community Centre. However, we want to keep the Community Centre run for the people of East Oxford and by the people of East Oxford.
