The Issue

UBC Faculty of Management Dean, Roger Sugden, has made the abrupt and disruptive decision to eliminate key accounting courses. The decision was announced at 2:00PM on Monday, April 7th, the last day of classes for UBC students. Shrowded in secrecy, the decision leaves students stranded and confused about their future at UBC and in the workforce.

The dean has refused to permit alumni, parents, media, and all other stakeholders to partake in information sessions. Despite massive student outcry on the decision, all efforts to have the dean accommodate the existing courses have been ignored. There was no consultation with any current students, alumni, businesses, or other keystakeholders prior to the announcement.

The options put forth are  to send students to other accredited BC institutions or to take online classes, all while earning their Bachelor of Management at UBC.
