The government has spent over $52.3 million in "Economic Action Plan" ads since 2009. Natural Resources Canada has budgeted $9 million in the current 2012-13 fiscal year for ads.

We are growing tired of these TV, radio, print and Internet ads. We got the point.

“They don’t reflect people’s daily experience. And at a time when the government says it wants to be fiscally prudent, it’s wasting huge sums of money on these ads for projects that have already been long finished. What is the point?” - MP Peggy Nash

The frivolous spending doesn't stop there. The government spent $300,000 on polling firms just to find out how Canadians feel about these ads. They don't need to hire a firm to know that Canadians feel that this is "propaganda" and "a waste of money". Let this petition be a bold indicator as to how Canadians really feel about these ads.

Stephen Harper, Prime Minister
Jim Flaherty, Finance Minister

Canadians are hurting from lack of full time jobs. We don't need any more ads.

As a taxpayer, having Harper and the Conservatives waste huge sums of tax money (over half a billion) to basically self promote is infuriating. Every time we turn around, yet another facility, program or service has been slashed or cut or closed, citing lack of funds, yet there's a steady stream out to fund PR? Why aren't the huge sums of money being sent to key critical areas like education, social services, science, justice, parks and the environment to name just a few areas? This is fiscal irresponsibility at its worst - ineffectual spin bombarding taxpayers, who are being forced to pay for it. Ridiculous!

This money should be used to create a national database to monitor children --mostly aboriginal children in the foster care system and in the care of provincial governments. Instead of working and investing money in our most vulnerable citizens, Mr. Harper is doing what the Tories in Alberta have been doing for forty years or more which is indoctrination, spin and lies. The fact is we have the Republican Tea Party from the USA in Alberta as our government and government in waiting (Wildrosies) and we have the federal Wildrosies posing as progressive Conservatives. It is going to take us decades to return Canada back to a functional democracy instead of a banana republic beset with corruption at all levels of government. But the one good thing about Harper and his Action Plan, is that Canada has finally woken up to his not so secret agenda. I'd say that agenda is entirely to be the oil industry front party of the sort that the Tories are in Alberta. Everything for big oil and the Tories and nothing for our children.

I am currently an unemployed college graduate who is struggling to find a job in the field of my studies. It is self evident to me that the 'Economic Action Plan' has so substance and is nothing but conservative propaganda.
