Torey Alston is a political figure with a diverse background in Florida public service. He was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis as a Broward County Commissioner in 2021 and later to the Broward County School Board in 2022, where he served as Chair. Alston's career includes roles such as Executive Director and CEO of the Greater Miami Expressway Agency and Chief of Staff at the Florida Department of Transportation. He is also a former trustee of Florida A&M University. Alston holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida A&M University. Despite losing a re-election bid for the School Board in 2024, he was chosen as the next President of Broward College in January 2025.
