Thomas John Umberg is an American politician and attorney, currently serving as a Democratic member of the California State Senate for the 34th district, which includes parts of northern Orange County and a small portion of Long Beach. Umberg's political career began with his service in the California State Assembly from 1990 to 1994 and again from 2004 to 2006, representing the 69th District. He has also held roles as a Federal Criminal Prosecutor and Colonel in the U.S. Army. In addition to his political career, Umberg is a partner at Umberg Zipser LLP in Orange County. His educational background includes a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, a Master's in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
