Thomas Jeffery Cole is an American politician who has served as the U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 4th congressional district since 2003. A member of the Republican Party, he is the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Cole's extensive political career includes serving as the 26th Secretary of State of Oklahoma from 1995 to 1999 and as a member of the Oklahoma Senate from 1988 to 1991. He also held leadership roles as party chair and executive director in Oklahoma. Academically, Cole holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Grinnell College, a Master's from Yale University, and a Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. Beyond politics, he has been a professor, screenwriter, consultant, and advocate, reflecting a diverse professional background.
