Stephanie Leigh Hansen is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Delaware Senate, representing District 10 since 2017. She was elected in a special election to fill the seat vacated by Bethany Hall-Long when she became the state's lieutenant governor. Before her tenure in the state senate, Hansen served as President of the New Castle County Council. She holds a high school diploma from Seaford High School, a Bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Delaware, a Master's in Earth Science from the University of New Orleans, and a Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware Law School. Her career includes roles as an attorney at Richards, Layton & Finger and Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP, and as an environmental scientist/hydrologist at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Hansen is also the founder of the Bear/Glasgow Council of Civic Organizations.
