I am writing this petition on behalf of my fiancé, Dennis Hugh Smith, who has been wrongfully accused and unjustly treated in a court of law. To add to this injustice, after the jury was dismissed, the judge unilaterally added an ominous charge against Dennis, stripping away any hope for a fair trial.

This sequence of events raises serious questions about the ethical conduct within our legal system. How can a person be considered innocent one moment and condemned the next, based on actions taken after a jury has been discharged? This is not the America that stands for justice for all. Instead, it feels like a betrayal of the very principles that our justice system is supposed to uphold.

Dennis is more than just a case number in a docket. He is a human being with hopes, dreams, and a future that is now uncertain due to procedural errors and a system that seems to favor conviction over truth. We must demand transparency, accountability, and most importantly, justice in Dennis’s case.

Why does this matter? Because if it can happen to Dennis, it can happen to anyone. Our justice system should protect the innocent and ensure a fair trial for all, without prejudice or obstruction.

I call upon the legal authorities to review this case in its entirety. I urge the District Attorney's office to re-evaluate evidence previously dismissed and to consider the implications of the judge's actions after the jury process was concluded.
