Born Richard Allan Smith, he is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played as a defenceman from 1968 until 1981 in the National Hockey League (NHL) and the World Hockey Association (WHA). During his illustrious hockey career, he won the Stanley Cup in 1970 with the Boston Bruins. Transitioning from sports, Rick ventured into public service and entrepreneurship.
