Raj Mukherji is an accomplished American politician, businessman, and lawyer currently serving as a senator representing New Jersey's 32nd District. A member of the Democratic Party, Mukherji has a diverse background, including five terms in the New Jersey General Assembly, where he held roles such as majority whip and deputy speaker. He also served as a law professor and local prosecutor, and was a deputy mayor of Jersey City. Mukherji is a former U.S. Marine Corps sergeant, enlisting shortly after the September 11 attacks.
