Michael Kent Braun is an American businessman and politician serving as the governor-elect of Indiana. A member of the Republican Party, Braun has been the junior United States Senator from Indiana since 2019. He began his political career in the Indiana House of Representatives, representing the 63rd district from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, Braun was elected to the U.S. Senate, unseating Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly. In 2024, he won the gubernatorial election, defeating Democratic nominee Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian nominee Donald Rainwater. Braun holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Wabash College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has experience as a small business owner and also served as a board member of the Hoosier School Board.
