Michelle Louise Helene Fischbach is an accomplished American attorney and politician, serving as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 7th congressional district since 2021. Representing a largely rural area, her district is the largest by area in Minnesota. A member of the Republican Party, Fischbach was the 49th lieutenant governor of Minnesota from 2018 to 2019, and as of 2024, she remains the last Republican to have held statewide office in the state. Her political career began with her election to the Minnesota State Senate, where she served from 1996 to 2018 and held the position of Senate President twice. Fischbach holds a Bachelor's in Political Science and Government from St. Cloud State University and a JD from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
