Mathias Cormann, born on 20 September 1970, is a renowned Belgian-Australian politician who served as Minister for Finance in the Australian government from 2013 to 2020. He was an active member of the Liberal Party, representing the state of Western Australia in the Australian Senate from 2007 to 2020. Cormann's political career was highlighted by noteworthy roles including the Australian government's leader in the Senate and the Special Envoy for Trade. With a background in law, Cormann is fluent in German, French, and English. He assumed the role of Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2021.
