Kirk Preston Watson is an American attorney and Democratic politician, currently serving as the 59th mayor of Austin, a position he previously held from 1997 to 2001 as the 54th mayor. He earned both his Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degrees from Baylor University. Watson ventured into state politics and was elected to the Texas Senate from District 14 in 2006.
