Katherine Marlea Clark is an American lawyer and politician who currently serves as the House Minority Whip, having assumed the role in 2023. Born in 1963, she has been the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 5th congressional district since 2013. Clark is a member of the Democratic Party. She has held significant leadership roles, including serving as Assistant Speaker from 2021 to 2023 and Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus from 2019 to 2021. Her political career began at the state level, where she served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 2008 to 2011, and in the Massachusetts Senate from 2011 to 2013. Clark’s legal background includes experience as a lawyer, general counsel, law clerk, and prosecutor.
