Jim Rosapepe is a seasoned public servant with a diverse career in education and diplomacy. He currently serves as a Maryland State Senator, a position he has held since 2007, where he represents the 21st District. Prior to his tenure in the Maryland Senate, Rosapepe was appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to Romania from 1998 to 2001, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening U.S.-Romanian relations. In addition to his political career, he has contributed to the advancement of higher education as a member of the Board of Regents for the University System of Maryland. Rosapepe is affiliated with the Democratic Party and is known for his commitment to education, economic development, and international diplomacy.
