Gerald F. "Jerry" Newton is a seasoned American politician and decorated non-commissioned officer affiliated with the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL). With a career spanning several decades, Newton has been an influential figure in Minnesota politics. He currently serves in the Minnesota House of Representatives, a position he assumed in 2023, representing District 35B, which includes Coon Rapids, Andover, and parts of Anoka County. Previously, he served in the House from 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2017, and in the Minnesota Senate from 2017 to 2023. Newton is also a former business owner of the Blaine Dairy Store and has served as a council member in Coon Rapids. He holds degrees from Boston University and the University of Maryland, and he graduated from Osseo High School.
