Jamin Ben "Jamie" Raskin is an American lawyer, politician, and law professor currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 8th congressional district, a position he has held since 2017. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Raskin has a storied history in public service and law. Before his tenure in Congress, he served as a Maryland State Senator from 2007 to 2016. In academia, he is a constitutional law professor and was the Director of the Program on Law and Government at American University. Raskin holds a Bachelor's degree in Government and a Juris Doctor from Harvard University, showcasing his strong educational background. His district, previously spanning rural and suburban territories, now focuses on part of Montgomery County after the 2022 redistricting.
