Henry McMaster is an influential American politician who has been serving as the 117th Governor of South Carolina since January 2017. Prior to this, he was the 91st lieutenant governor of South Carolina, from 2005 to 2011, and South Carolina's Attorney General, from 2003 to 2011. Born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1947, McMaster pursued a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, embarking upon a lengthy career in politics. Apart from his political endeavors, he also has a significant presence in the legal profession, having worked in both private practice and public service. As a member of the Republican Party, McMaster's tenure has been marked by conservative stances on issues like healthcare, taxes, and education.
