Gwendolynne Sophia Moore, born in 1951, is an American politician and a dedicated member of the Democratic Party. She has been serving as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 4th congressional district since 2005. This district, centered in Milwaukee, includes various suburbs such as Bayside, Brown Deer, and Whitefish Bay, due to the 2011 redistricting. Moore holds the distinction of being the first African American elected to Congress from Wisconsin and the first woman to represent her district. Prior to her congressional role, she served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1989 to 1992 and the State Senate from 1993 to 2004. In 2016, Moore was elected caucus whip of the Congressional Black Caucus for the 115th Congress.
