Get Israel Folau's GoFundMe page taken down!

***Please Remember To Share*** Israel Folau has made millions of dollars over the course of his 10+ year career across various sporting codes. He was most recently employed by Australian Rugby Union, and like anyone else, he had an employment contract. As an adult, he made a conscious decision to breach that contract by discriminating against various groups of people globally (while being completely unapologetic for it), and now he wants the public to pay for his legal battle against his former employer. Below are the key points as to why Israel Folau's GoFundMe campaign should be removed and made void: - He is not fighting for his life, he is fighting for his lifestyle. He is fighting for the rest of the cash left on his contract that he chose to walk away from when he decided to be a homophobic bigot. - He is entitled to be religious. He is entitled to free speech. What he is NOT entitled to is disgraceful behaviour, blatant discrimination and to expect the public to mop up his mess when he most certainly has the means to do it himself. - There is a disclaimer at the bottom of his GoFundMe Story which clearly states to supporters that "there will be no obligations for Israel Folau to apply the funds in any particular way with respect to his legal action". This means the funds raised may not even go toward the actual reason for the fundraiser! - Furthermore, GofundMe Terms and Conditions state that it is prohibited to use their platform to raise funds that contribute to any campaign with the explicit purpose of involving the legal defense of hate, discrimination, intolerance of any kind relating to sexual orientation, sex, gender or gender identity. Need anymore be said? Let's get this farce of a fundraiser pulled from GoFundMe and leave the fundraising up to sick children, animal charities and other such worthy causes. Not rich brats that are self entitled and ignorant. Sign away, friends!

GoFundMe Please Remove Israel Folau's Immoral Fundraiser!

Multi-millionaire Israel Folau had his contract with Rugby Australia torn up and his employment terminated due to repeated violations of Rugby Australia's social media policy. This information was clearly spelled out in his contract (which he signed willingly), and he chose to violate the terms of his contract despite multiple warnings. He is now engaging in frivolous legal action against his former employer and has started a fundraising campaign with the popular crowdfunding website to pay for his legal costs. By doing so, he is falsy proclaiming himself as the victim of an injustice, and the violation of his employer's social media policy (multiple posts on Twitter and Instagram targeting vulnerable members with the community designed to encourage intolerance and discrimination) prevents him from practicing his religion freely.               Crowdfunding is meant to raise funds for individuals looking to get innovative projects off the ground that could make valuable contributions to society, science, and the arts or help people who are less fortunate pay for things such as life-saving medical treatments. Fundraisers set up by families to help pay for treatments and medical equipment for their severely ill children make of the bulk of fundraisers on's platform.  It is NOT meant for greedy, prejudiced millionaires to buy their way out of accepting responsibility for their words and actions as well as embolden undesirable elements in our society to persecute and vilify innocent people who live a different way or have different values to them. We, the co-signers of this petition demand remove Israel Folau's immoral fundraiser and the money raised so far be returned to those undesirable elements of our society who feel Folau is more deserving of their money than sick children!

Cancel Israel Folau’s Legal Fee Fundraiser and refund the money pledged

Israel Folau was recently sacked for social media comments about homosexuals, atheists and drunks (among others). These comments are a clear breach of his employment conditions with Rugby Australia, and he has been warned that his conduct is unacceptable in the past. Folau has now decided to launch a court case against Rugby Australia for unlawful dismissal and has taken to GoFundMe to seek donations from like-minded people. As of writing, he has raised $500,000 of his $3 million goal. Folau is quite well off, as reported by many media outlets his assets include: A property portfolio worth over $6 million. A $500,000 Lamborghini  Folau has also been one of the best paid football players in Australia for over a decade. So his assertion that he needs donations to fund his legal action are dishonest at best. There are several other GoFundMe campaigns that he has surpassed in the 2 days since he launched the campaign. These include people fighting terrible and rare illnesses, people who have had a loved one die and are now on the verge of becoming homeless due to the financial hardship this has caused. These campaigns are getting little media attention and the people that started them are legitimately doing it tough. Folau is claiming that his court case is about freedom of speech, freedom of religion and no person ever being sacked for their beliefs. Rugby Australia have previously stated that Israel is entitled to his beliefs, but the way he expresses them is harmful an unacceptable. Folau’s real case is him trying to get away with his hateful comments. He does not understand that freedom of speech does not mean that he can say whatever he likes without consiquence. I am calling on GoFundMe to close Israel Folau’s campaign down. By liquidating some of his assets and becoming more frugal (like the rest of us), he can afford his own legal fees.

Name prominent Edinburgh street after fundraising legend Tom Gilzean

The Edinburgh Evening News is asking readers to sign a petition to name a prominent city street after the late war veteran and fundraising hero Tom Gilzean. Tom, who raised more than £1 million for Capital charities, died at veterans’ hospital Erskine House on November 4th, aged 99, following a series of small strokes. His family said he died still wanting to collect money for charity. A lifelong charity supporter, in the 1920s and 1930s he would help out at the Royal Infirmary Parade along Princes Street and walked the length of the street collecting cash to help pay for hospitals and doctors long before the NHS. He served in World War II as a Sapper in the army and landed in France in October 1944 as a member of 30 Armoured Corps Royal Engineers. During his time there he helped in the liberation of France and the Netherlands. Tom later took to the streets of the Capital to stave off depression and began raising money for causes such as the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity and the Erskine care home for veterans. 2015 saw him become the eighth recipient to be honoured with the coveted Edinburgh Award, following in the footsteps of the likes of Ian Rankin, JK Rowling and Sir Chris Hoy - but he was the first to be honoured for charity work and philanthropy. In June this year he received an MBE for his services after raising more than £1 million for charity. If you support the idea of creating a Tom Gilzean street somewhere prominent in Edinburgh then please sign our petition to show that the idea has widespread public backing.

STOP Israel Folau’s GoFundMe Campaign

*** DON’T FORGET TO SHARE *** Australia and Wallabies full-back Israel Folau has made anti-LGBT remarks on social media in September 2017, April 2018 and April 2019; Folau was sacked by Rugby Australia in May 2019. Hiding behind his religion Folau has chosen to dispute and fight his termination in the Fair Work Commission and in the Courts. In June 2019 Folau, despite having been on a $4 million a year contract with Rugby Australia and owning a property portfolio of eight properties worth more then $5 million dollars, found the cheek and audacity to ask the world to donate their hard earned money to his million dollar estate to pay for his expected legal bills via a GoFund me donation page. As per the GoFund me terms and conditions  last revised on April 2, 2019, which states a full list of content and/or use that is illegal or prohibited by GoFundMe specifically “UserConduct” Sec A.8 Without limiting the foregoing, you agree not to use the Services to: - raise funds or establish or contribute to any Campaign with the implicit or explicit purpose of or involving: A.8 “campaigns we deem, at our sole discretion, to be in support of, or for the legal defence of alleged crimes associated with hate, violence, harassment, bullying, discrimination, terrorism or intolerance of any kind relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender or gender identity or serious disabilities or diseases” This petition is to ask GoFundMe to review this campaign  and find it in breach of the above user conduct conditions as the money raised will be used to directly pay legal expenses to defend Folau as a result of his direct, REPEATED, ignorant comments associated with hate, harassment, bullying, discrimination and intolerance based on people’s sexual orientation, sex, gender or gender identity. We all have choices, Folau has made his and is now being held accountable for those. It’s disgusting and inexcusable that in today’s world in such a position of influence you chose to use that influence to exclude, divide, alienate, vilify, condemn and spread hate to some of those who are most vulnerable. What’s worse is that after being held accountable instead of taking ownership and responsibility for his actions he instead plays victim and expect’s the very people his discriminating against, the public to bail him out and pay his legal expenses. “YOU are in a fight that YOU chose to be in after YOU broke the terms of YOUR contract, the kids below are in a fight they NEVER wanted to be in & yet YOU think YOU deserve donations more than they do??!!,” posted on Twitter by former Wallabies teammate Drew Mitchell. The LGBTQIA+ community and the wider community as a whole should not have to live in fear of this kind of behaviour EVER especially from those in positions of influence in a time where we should all be moving forward with a mindset of acceptance, love, peace and inclusion. "Whilst Israel is entitled to his religious beliefs, the way in which he has expressed these beliefs is inconsistent with the values of the sport. "Israel has failed to understand that the expectation of him as a Rugby Australia and NSW Waratahs employee is that he cannot share material on social media that condemns, vilifies or discriminates against people on the basis of their sexuality. "Rugby is a sport that continuously works to unite people. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our game and no vilification based on race, gender, religion or sexuality is acceptable and no language that isolates, divides or insults people based on any of those factors can be tolerated.                  -“Joint Statement, Rugby Australia CEO Castle and Waratahs equivalent Andrew Hore”- This campaign is in direct breach of GoFundMe’s user code of conduct and on a site used to raised money for those in life threatening and altering conditions and situations. It’s wrong and disgusting behaviour from a millionaire asking for his legal expenses to be paid for his own wrong actions. Welcome to the real world, time to get a couple of jobs, take out a loan and sell your asset’s to pay your bill’s the same as the common folk would have to. a full list of GoFundMe user code and terms can be found here.

Waive your service fees to help the victims of the earthquake in Nepal

To all those affected by the terrible earthquakes in Nepal, the GoFundMe Team is thinking of you. We’ve worked rapidly to create the ‘Nepal Earthquake Relief‘ category and continue to work diligently to scan and review the thousands of campaigns that have been created to aid victims and send relief. This has been our #1 priority. Now, we’re announcing that GoFundMe will be donating back its 5% fee from all donations made to campaigns within our ‘Nepal’ category to AmeriCares. We believe that AmeriCares is best positioned to make an immediate impact by delivering aid packages of medical relief supplies to all of those displaced by the earthquakes. At the time of this announcement, over $1.5M has been raised within the ‘Nepal Earthquake Relief’ category. We’re able to keep our pledge for the first $5M raised in the category, for a maximum gift of $250K. GoFundMe will be making these gifts in regular increments to ensure that help is delivered quickly. The first $50,000 donation has already been made. We would like to thank all of the brave rescue workers and volunteers who are donating their time and resources to the relief efforts. Thank you, -The GoFundMe Team
